An Anthro Sale and All I Want Is This Top
Anthropologie is having a 20% extra on sale items, which is kind of a big deal because their sale prices aren't always "sale-y" enough.
I only have my eyes on one top (it would have been two but the second sold out while I was in a meeting at work!). This is it. What do you think? Is it a must have item?

FAVORITE FIND: Luxe Geo Palazzo Trousers from Dorothy Perkins
I've really been feeling the ultra-wide pants lately (did you see the post and inspiration on palazzo pants here?). Trends that toe the edge of fashion are sometimes slow on the uptake in most US stores, so I'll look at our friends across the Atlantic for shopping finds.

[Under $50} An Anthropologie Splurge Kind of Day
The last few days of the month usually marks the stream of emails flooding my account from various retailers, highlighting the new monthly collections. Zara does it, Banana Republic does it, Asos does it...but I usually end up taking a look when Anthropologie does it.
Anthro is one of those places that I LOVE to look but rarely get the merchandise. If it was rated by a Yelp of retailers, it would have three dollar signs. However, when they put things on sale, the number of dollar signs go WAY down. Anthro is also one of the most modest style friendly places I've ever come about - styles that have interest and are more than a basic block-color tunic. For women who are interested in modest style (or Pentecostal or Hijabi or what have you styles), sale-priced Anthropologie is the way to go.
So again, when the email came in this morning and I hit up their Sale section, these items instantly caressed their long tentacles towards my credit card.
My favorite are these Prospect Pants, which I think would be awesome for the spring as socializing or work pants. Click on the images below. The tops and sweaters have more color options, so make sure to check it out if you're in the market for brights.

Widening Your Horizons in Spring 2014's Latest Trend
Sometimes style skips a generation. We've seen the revival of 80s glam and 90s glitz, but now the 60s are making a coming back in the very welcome form of palazzo pants.
Likely a predecessor to the 70s flare legs (which were also a late 90s, early 2000s trend, that ahem, I may have participated in), palazzo pants are the ultimate chic in combining the comfort of a skirt with the coverage of trousers - modest fashion without meaning to be, creating a look for a woman seeking American modesty without styling too hard.
The super voluminous bottoms looks balanced when partnered with a more fitted top - a lady-like blouse - but evidence proves that a draped hi-low top or slouchy sweater also make a fitting pair.
A great look, no matter how windy the weather.

Cobalt Into My Life
It's no denying it - cobalt blue has been the staple color of the season for a few seasons now. It took me a while to jump on board with this. Cobalt looked like the lighter, runnier version of an ink pen that had long gone past its writing usage.
My mind has changed with the seasons and I suddenly have an urge to incorporate into every outfit I could possibly muster from my closet. The undeniable blue boldly goes where no color has gone before - combining with the likes of lime green, solid blacks, and even after-Labor-Day whites (the new winter color combo?).
Which of these would you work into your wardrobe?

Reader Request: Styling the Anthropologie Minted Terra Skirt
The Anthropologie Minted Terra Skirt saga continues!
I, happily, received a price adjustment from Anthropologie a few weeks ago and continued to champion the beauty and steal of a deal of this skirt. I even wore it to my friend's surprise gender reveal baby shower (btw, it's a boy!).
I think everyone should own this drapey, airy, light-as-a-cloud skirt - which is why when reader Amber emailed me, I jumped to it.
"Hi! I love your blog! I also just [bought] the minted terra maxi skirt from anthro...But I am so lost on how to style it with hijab! Can you do maybe an outfit post? I need help! Lol I told myself if I couldn't figure it out this week I would return it :( xx Amber"
DON'T RETURN IT!
I recommend matching it with a pink, yoke neck or split-neck blouse, slightly tucked in (see right). The one I'm wearing is from Ann Taylor Outlet, and purchased just a few weeks ago on end of summer clearance (for only $17!). For how silky soft and light this skirt is, I chose an equally loose fitting top to maintain that romantic, easy look.
Here area few similarly styled tops I found from around the web. They're mostly under $50, except for the Ann Taylor silk top, which is a heinous $79. (I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on sale soon enough!)
You can also mix up stripes by pairing it with a striped pink top.
Why pink? It's hard to tell in the skirt, but the piping is salmon rose colored, which can be played up through a soft pink blouse. Not into pink (I totally get it and was with you for SO many years!), play up the mint green or light chocolate brown. Even cream, the way that Anthropologie originally styled it, is a great look. Just remember to stick with the airy quality of the skirt and you can't go wrong!

Jilted by Anthropologie
[Updated] Anthropologie issued a price adjustment, which means I spent $50 on this skirt AND with the cash back I receive from my credit card, it was actually about $43!
I have been eyeing this skirt for WEEKS. Weeks. Seriously, weeks.
I watched, dared not touch, because I wasn't going to buy a $168 skirt. Sorry Anthro, I don't believe your products are as valuable as a weekend plane ticket to New York.
This feather-light maxi skirt conveys the airy coolness of whipped creamy mint chocolate swirled ice cream, almost non-existent against your skin - and I was willing to drop the dough (in the form of a very generous gift card from my best friend) when the price dropped to $89.95.
I have been eyeing this skirt for WEEKS. Weeks. Seriously, weeks.

Blazin' into Fall
It's going to take me some time before I can fully accept the oncoming of fall into my life. Don't get me wrong - autumn is by far my most favorite season - but there is something doleful about the passing of summer into fall that doesn't plague the other season transitions.
One thing that makes the passing palatable is the classic fall blazer. Now, many years out of college, I am a firm believer than all women, especially those who are college-aged, should have a blazer in their closet. While it's an article of clothing synonymous with business, it's also a telltale sign of academia and belongs on a college campus, along with insta-ramen and hoodie sweatshirts.
Whatever your impetus may be, a blazer is a must-have for a fall wardrobe and especially as a modest dresser. It's a versatile cover-up to sleeveless shells or tank tunics.

FAVORITE FIND: Petal Jacket from Anthropologie
I should probably finish going through all the sales at Anthropologie before declaring a Favorite Find...but blame that on my excitement after the first Favorite Find.
Either way, you win with this Petal Jacket in pink from Anthropologie. Marked down from $168 to $49.95 (Anthropologie's favorite number), this beautiful blazer swoops gracefully in the front and back with a hemline that extends well past your waist. Call it a sophisticated version of boyfriend blazer.
What I love is how long this jacket is without feeling like a leftover from the 80s. With a longer hemline, this blazer from Anthropologie provides maximum coverage without sacrificing on style or modesty.
FAVORITE FIND: Taylor Sleep Shirt from Anthropologie in Pink
You've probably noticed I've been all over Anthropologie lately. While I usually like browsing through they racks, that I have two gift cards from a recent 30th birthday that are burning holes in my pocket.
Anthro has the possibility to make dressing fashionably, stylishly, and modestly one of the easiest things in the world...but oh, how it makes us pay for that possibility. Which is why I'm happy to find this Favorite Find - the Taylor Sleep Shirt (in pink).
The polka dots with the delicate lace detail are nice touches to what could be an otherwise ordinary button down top. While it claims to be a sleep shirt - and I'm sure it's uber comfy - it would be a great tunic-length top to throw over a pair of wide OR skinny leg pants, some flats, and call it a day - without spending hours in the closet, layering top over top to ensure full coverage of all the important parts of your body.

FAVORITE FIND: Anthropologie Jolette Maxi Shirtdress
Finding something under $50 at Anthropologie is like searching for the white whale from Moby Dick- it exists, but you just can't find it.
Well call me your Ishmael, my friends, because I've done it. I've found an under $50 maxi dress from Anthropologie.
With a long, sweeping skirt and full, roll-tab sleeves, it's the type of dress you can throw on for a quick trip to the grocery store, a date night with your husband, or a movie night with the girls. The full skirt provides ample coverage and feels like air against your skin (you'll also feel like you're floating on it, with how great you feel modestly styled in this dress!).
Currently, they have sizes S-L all available. Buy one for you, one for a friend, and reap the rewards of a modest summer dress!

Skirting the Issue with Peplum Tops
I can't get over peplums. I just can't. For a while, I didn't know what peplums were (a peppy plum?) and when I initially discovered them, I didn't get it. NOW I get it. I see them everywhere and want them so badly - but always wonder how to wear them. Peplums seem to be geared towards tight and fitted
...but thank you to the fashion industry for recognizing a few new ways: peplums with wide leg pants and peplums with maxis:
