Blue and Geometric

Sometimes it's hard to see a pattern until it's all in front of you. You don't realize how much you've been in Greek food until you look back at your food diary for the past two weeks. Or you don't know you have a coffee problem until your credit card clears all the daily purchases.  In my case, the pattern has been blue, geometric, and tunic length tops.

I usually get pretty antsy about spring at this time of year.  I need it.  I want it.  I can almost smell it in the air.  And that need is manifested in my recent collection of pinned tops from Ruche.  It wasn't until I looked back at the collected pins, that I realized I am ready for the light blue skies that late March brings with it.

Now is a great time to stock up on tunic-lengthed tops for you modest fashionistas.  Springtime makes long blouses and airy sheath dresses short in supply and high in cost - neither of which are in these tops and dresses from Ruche.

Gaze-droppers: The Skinny on Printed Pants

Reader Request: Foundations

I'm elated and positively overjoyed (seriously, I'm squealing over here) to say that we have our first reader request!  A frequent reader and friend of the blog asked the following:

Can you post something on where to find the best basics...tees, camis, tanks etc?

A good foundation is literally the building block for a solid work of art, and though it should not be hard to find, frustratingly, it is.  Like the case with Goldilocks, a foundation piece (aka, a basic t-shirt or tank top worn under a top) can be too short or too tight or too risque (read: hinting of cleavage) for that otherwise Islamically-appropriate outfit.

We did our thing and found those hard to find foundation basics in easy to reach stores, as told by you.

A little bit of Brit style

I was at a baby shower recently and debuted my new dress, which, to my credit, I did a pretty good job styling.  To cover my arms, I wore a teal long-sleeve shirt and added some turquoise dangly earrings from my co-blogger (she's my fashion partner for a reason, folks!).  Point being, European designers are in (you win, Kate Middleton!)

A Classically Colored Ensemble

Ever feel an out-of-the-ordinary blazer calling your name?  That's sort of what brought me here.  Classic colors in uncharacteristic prints keep this spread grounded and unique at the same time.  No need to over-complicate - pair a busy top with a calm blazer or vice versa.  I also like the idea of the striped long-sleeved tee under the blue dress for some personality behind the frill.  Each piece is superbly priced between $10 - $45.
