An Anthro Sale and All I Want Is This Top
Anthropologie is having a 20% extra on sale items, which is kind of a big deal because their sale prices aren't always "sale-y" enough.
I only have my eyes on one top (it would have been two but the second sold out while I was in a meeting at work!). This is it. What do you think? Is it a must have item?

It's Alive! Frankensteining My Graduation Dress (part 2)
A day or two before graduation, the comment still on my mind, I remembered a neutral-colored pleated chiffon maxi skirt from Urban Outfitters that I owned. I layered long and sleeveless tops all the time - why not a skirt with too short a hem? I liked the idea of the play on texture - the pleats peaking out from under the angular hemline. While I meant to test the look earlier in the week, I didn't actually try it until the day of graduation - and thankfully, the neutrals weren't too off the mark of each other to work.
The real trick came in ensuring the shoes would be fully visible. Worn at my waist, the maxi would have covered my shoes and lengthened the hemline - giving the dress more of a gown look. I wanted the skirt to fall right around the longest part of the hemline of the dress.
So I did what any normal person would do - I pinned the skirt to my bra.
I'd planned to go a little bold and wear the dress as is - loose and flowy a la the Olsen twins in their early style years - but as my brother commented, I looked like I was wearing a tent. A belt was in order and I found the PERFECT accent in a gold metal belt from Asos.
I'm VERY happy with the way it turned out. I felt like a hippie goddess with all the flowing sleeves and regal collars.

It's Alive! Frankensteining My Graduation Dress (part 1)
It happened! It finally happened! I graduated and walked across the stage and can officially say I hold a Masters in Business Administration from a top 25 business school! I have been in school the entire existence of this blog and even before, a student working on her degree part-time while working full-time as a consultant.
The countdown to graduation began a few months ago, as did the anticipation for my outfit. I decided not to buy a new dress for graduation. I haven't had my eyes on anything lately - at least not in the dress category - and I also own enough clothes that I could re-wear something in a fresher way.
This is what I started with:
I settled on wearing stockings with piggy pink tights from Target with a blouse picked up from H&M.
A few weeks before graduation, I showed my mom the outfit, to which she commented that my legs were still "bare". You see, I grew up with the belief that a Muslim women is covered when you don't see her form, not simply when her skin is covered. Acting as a typical child, even at 31, I brushed off my mom's concern when she expressed it, but the comment lingered with me...I didn't feel like I'd really modest-ified the dress enough.
But what to do? I wanted to wear the dress as a dress for an elegant affair - not layered with pants, and clearly tights or anything similar were out of the question.
The solution came in the form of safety pins and my undergarments.

Cutting Loose...Footloose
It's the endless winter. I'm sitting in my house, waiting for yet another round of a snowfall. It's March 24, guys, and the official start of spring was 4 days ago. Perhaps it's for this reason that I haven't yet been inspired to shop or plump up my closet, and thus uninspired to post. I love finding you guys things - especially when I hear from you about it! - but we're all tired of winter wear.
It's why I was happily piqued with excitement for an outfit from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Did you guys see the entrance/tribute to Footlose that Jimmy and Kevin Bacon did last week?

What about this is inspiring? Look again.
Whoever dressed her deserves some made props, because that floral on blush outfit definitely garners a spotlight. Midi skirts are back for the spring, with a little extra midi to the skirt, and entering the business world. I like the idea of a midi skirt with booties (and likely tights) as stylish, modest work attire. The one pair of booties I own are a bit higher on the ankle and tend to be too tall for the few cropped pants I wear them with, so a midi skirt of this length would be a perfect pairing.

Widening Your Horizons in Spring 2014's Latest Trend
Sometimes style skips a generation. We've seen the revival of 80s glam and 90s glitz, but now the 60s are making a coming back in the very welcome form of palazzo pants.
Likely a predecessor to the 70s flare legs (which were also a late 90s, early 2000s trend, that ahem, I may have participated in), palazzo pants are the ultimate chic in combining the comfort of a skirt with the coverage of trousers - modest fashion without meaning to be, creating a look for a woman seeking American modesty without styling too hard.
The super voluminous bottoms looks balanced when partnered with a more fitted top - a lady-like blouse - but evidence proves that a draped hi-low top or slouchy sweater also make a fitting pair.
A great look, no matter how windy the weather.

Sometimes it's hard to see a pattern until it's all in front of you. You don't realize how much you've been in Greek food until you look back at your food diary for the past two weeks. Or you don't know you have a coffee problem until your credit card clears all the daily purchases. In my case, the pattern has been blue, geometric, and tunic length tops.
I usually get pretty antsy about spring at this time of year. I need it. I want it. I can almost smell it in the air. And that need is manifested in my recent collection of pinned tops from Ruche. It wasn't until I looked back at the collected pins, that I realized I am ready for the light blue skies that late March brings with it.
Now is a great time to stock up on tunic-lengthed tops for you modest fashionistas. Springtime makes long blouses and airy sheath dresses short in supply and high in cost - neither of which are in these tops and dresses from Ruche.

Reader Request: Styling Geo Printed Harem Pants from Forever 21
Our reader Sarah sent in a styling request:
I love the premise of this Reader Request because it's TOTALLY something I would do (if there were ANY places to shop near me.
Harem pants are an ongoing creative challenge for me and in general, the feedback I read is that the challenge is styling them without making them look like fancy jogging pants.
I pulled some inspiration from these ladies below for Sarah's request. With a simple white t shirt and a boyfriend blazer - or any blazer that has a relaxed fit and a slightly longer hemline - harem pants can be dressed up.
Here's a few different black and white blazer and blazer-like jackets to wear with these pants. However, the beauty of black and white pants is that ANY color will go with them - so if you own a bright coral, citrine, sapphire, etc blazer, then try that out!

[Under $50] Blazers and tops at Target
When it comes to shopping at Target, the one time is never enough. There's always something there that you need, even if you don't need it. I tend to stroll the aisles again and again, making mental notebooks (there are that many notes in it) about what looks good and what to come back for when my budget allows me (because believe you me, I am a champion of the personal budget).
I've been taking all these notes and am sensing big sales at Target soon. These items have been out long enough that they'll be marked down across the nation. So, if you see something you like - and your budget allows it - it might be that perfect addition to your closet for modest style.

[Under $50] Today's post brought you to by a textbook case of procrastination
While I've been out of undergrad for 8 years now, and a working professional for all of those years, the classic undergraduate ailment, procrastination, never left my body. I'm certain it is deep within my bones. Case in point: I am currently working on two homework assignments and my annual assessment for work. Yes, it's Sunday afternoon. Yes, I didn't have anything to do (not really, anyway) yesterday. And yet, it's coming down to the final few hours of the weekend.
In classic procrastination form, I am finding ways to prolong the work as much as possible. What's the Gmail? An announcement from Dorothy Perkins about 30% everything? Ending TONIGHT! STOP EVERYTHING!

Oh, and hey, you're looking pretty good yourself over there (now I'm talking about these dresses).
First off, can I just say how excited I am that my affiliate site is doing layouts again? I feel like those are Greater Lengths' bread and butter and in the whole ShopStyle/PopSugar Shopping cutover, we lost layouts for a while. Glad to have them back.
Second, spring is SOCLOSE. We had a hint of it for a week or two, then it went back to early fall weather. While I love it for its running possibilities, I am ready for sun on my face and a breeze on my back.
I'm also ready for skirts and dresses - flowy, loose, long dresses! I might be jumping the gun and browsing before spring really settles it but looking at maxis gets me excited for sunglasses and walking bare-footed through soft spring grass. Check out these jersey maxis on Piperlime. The belted sueded one on the far left is on sale, but the rest are still at full price.
