REMIX: Borrowed and blue (Skirt Edition)

What does demure with a flash of spark look like?

This look debuted at Fashion Week in New York, but it's no secret that navy with a splash of yellow is a tried-and-true-tradition.  Since most of us own at least one article of a true navy blue, a little bit of remixing helps to create a new outfit out of old rules, and allows us to look forward to the coming season

Mix it up with some sweaters and skirts as the weather warms up

REMIX: Cameron Diaz casual

I found this photo of the lovely Camera Diaz (okay, here she looks like she needs a good nap) sporting this enviably casual outfit.  It's a simple look and could easily be pulled together, remixed with items already in your closet.  In fact, she's wearing three of our top 7 basics every Muslim woman should own (skinny jeans, tall boots, and a long white t shirt!).

95

Top it off with a cropped sweater (or this one or this one) - which is the new rage these days - and look forward to a relaxed-day ahead of you.

Need a long white t for under $25?  Here are a few from the stores you guys love.

Get your designer jeans (up to 90% off!)

Everyone has their few "always splurge" items.  For me, it's coffee (a daily staple so why settle for less than the most robust, flavorful, and effective java out there?) and designer jeans (another staple that works for 4 out of the 5 occasions on a weekly basis).

So you can imagine my elation over Bluefly's big sale tonight.  Their biggest-name designer jeans are on sale between 40 - 90% (yes, that's a NINE-ZERO) off.  I'm talking 7 for All Mankind, Joe's, Current/Elliot, Adriano Goldschmied, William Rast, Rock and Republic, and more.  Get your fix here for prices starting at $17.99.

(Double bonus - shop through Ebates and get an additional 3.5% back in cash!)

Your move, Spring

The US has had some unseasonable weather (in the 60s on the east coast! blasted with snow in the mid-west!), though I think the underlying theme is that we're all ready for spring.  Spring abounds with color and movement and airy, open skies.  Get ready for spring with a few of our favorite maxi dresses.

Each of these is priced at under $35 (even the gorgeous flouncy one in the middle from Asos!)

**Update 02/04: The black and white floral dress has actually been purchased and reviewed by a Muslim woman already!  She loves it!

A little bit of Brit style

I was at a baby shower recently and debuted my new dress, which, to my credit, I did a pretty good job styling.  To cover my arms, I wore a teal long-sleeve shirt and added some turquoise dangly earrings from my co-blogger (she's my fashion partner for a reason, folks!).  Point being, European designers are in (you win, Kate Middleton!)

Another great European store recently discovered is Dorothy Perkins. Like H&M stateside, it's a very Muslim and wallet-friendly clothes shop.  Here are two recent faves, both priced under $30.
