British Fashion Roundup at Dorothy Perkins

Oh British fashion, why can't you bleed into more normal American fashion?  I love the Brits (and most European designers and brands) because they like long, flow, unexpectedly modest clothing.  I've heard time and time again from Muslim women how much easier dressing and shopping is in Europe.  Plus, everything is just awesome.

Uncolorblocking with Polka Dots and Stripes

Colorblocking seems to be all the rage these days and I will be the first to say that it makes styling an outfit easy, but sometimes you just yearn for a pattern or print or design.

Via The Sartorialist
What I like best about working in stripes and dots is that they are timeless.  When have they ever gone out of style?  Never?  And for a Muslim wardrobe, modest in style and modest in budget, it's nice to have pieces that carry forward.

Wondering what to mix in with all your color-blocked basics?  Any of these stripes or polka dots or spotted tops and shirtdresses and dresses acting as tops will do!  Like the women in photos 1 and 2, add a belt to add a border, or let it all hang out as Keiko Lynn does in her oversized sweater style.

2.  ZARA Striped Sweater, $35.90
3.  ZARA Striped T-Shirt, $29.90
4.  ZARA Striped Moss Stitch Sweater, $16.99

Dress in Autumn: Golds, Mustards, Ochres, & Saffrons

Continuing on in our autumn-inspired clothes for Muslim women, here are our top finds in rich golds, mustards, ochres, and other colors that scream "fall gold".

Dress in Autumn - Scarlets, Russets, Maroons, & Burgundies

In anticipation for this supposed storm that's hitting the Northern Virginia region/entire East Coast region, my brother and I decided to rake the leaves lying outside (wet leaves are SUCH a hassle).  The storm is not here but the leaves are gone, and with it, all the beautiful scarlets and maroons and golds and pumpkins and burnt oranges and yellows that littered the lawn in such a Picasso-like dazzle of color.

You can recreate the look of an autumnal yard with some of these finds.  Check out the other posts (like this one on mustards and golds) for all your fabulous modest and stylish Muslim women clothing finds.  There's something for everyone this fall!

Anthropologie 25% Off Sale-on-Sale!

There's a little sale-on-sale action going on at Anthropologie these days.  Today (per their site) is their last day for the additional 25% off.  We already made Anthropologies Gathered Grace Cardigan our FAVORITE FIND of the week, and below have added on a few additional sale items we're loving.

While Anthro has a number of great pieces that can be worn by themselves (the store pride's itself on each piece being a work of art), many of their items look better when worn together.

Case in point, this popularly Pinterest-ed fashion photo from Anthopologie's catalag last September.

Similarly, we've built a few outfits of flowing fabrics, rich tones, and long (though sometimes quirky) hemlines that Anthropologie is known for.  Most pieces are less than $50 (especially if you purchase today with the 25% sale-on-sale).  Click on them for more info!

Reader Request: Peplum T-Shirt from Zara

Reader Nusrat asked us to style this Zara t-shirt, stating she was open to suggestions though preferred bottoms that were not fitted.  "Straight, flared like palazzo and anything in between" was her request.

Peplum T-Shirt from Zara, $19.90
It can be tough for Muslim women to wear a peplum top.  It's styled to fall at the natural waist and act as a cropped top, which makes many Muslim women who prefer their tops to fall well below the natural waist uncomfortable.  Understandable and completely okay.

While peplums can't be lengthened (otherwise they're no longer a peplum...that's when they become a skirt or dress), Muslim women can dress them with wide leg pants.  Wide legs don't hug curves while still erring on the side of modesty.

Via Jill Sander
Our suggestion is to layer this peplum shirt with a cropped top, to add a bit more personality, while still showcasing the peplum.

Lurex-knit Surplice Sweater Top from Charlotte Russe, $19.99
1969 Modern Trouser Jeans from Gap, $39.99

Pointelle Knit Tommy Hilger Sweater at Macy's, $22.99
Minnie Rose Wide-Leg Knit Pants at Neiman Marcus, $50

And just a few final wide-leg pants, if you've got the top but need the right bottoms.
